It’s Sunday Science
Sunday Science Workshops
building your motivation with mind blowing information
Do you have a regular practice that you do that helps you feel more aligned, invigorated or at peace?
Would you like to understand exactly why ancient spiritual technologies such as meditation, qigong and yoga work in your body?
Do you want to improve your practice or commit to practicing each day to deepen your connections?
Would you you like to work with experts in each field of embodiment and nervous system re-patterning to learn techniques?
We want this too. The practitioners at Body Conscious have got together and we have devised a series of monthly participatory workshops with enough geeky content to satisfy your quest for understanding HOW and WHY practices actually work. You will learn by watching, practicing with guidance and explanations about neurobiology and the brain.
Watch demonstrations, take part in a guided practice sessions and then learn about why practice works

Who is James?

20th September Somatics and the nervous system with James and Dee from Body Conscious
There is no better example of the mind body connection than the practice of somatics, where movement and body awareness can be used to improve the body’s psychological processes. In this session we will explore the evolution of the human brain and how it established itself as the organ for movement, and how our psychological processes are simply an advanced tool to facilitate movement.
11th Oct Breathwork with James and Aidan Malone from Whitewolf Wellness
Breathwork is quickly becoming a widely accepted method of improving physical and mental wellbeing, and even altering our conscious state. How can this be true for something we do naturally tens of thousands of times per day? It turns out that our breathing patterns have deeply rooted connections in our brain, and combined with our circulatory system this can have profound impacts to our wellbeing. This session will look at the connection between breathing, the circulatory system and the brain.
15th November Qi gong with James and Shifu Paul Murphy
Qi Gong is a Chinese practice dating back centuries, which claims to train the body’s life force (also known as ‘qi’). While these claims may seem fantastical at first glance, it appears that the world of neuroscience and physiology is starting to build an understanding of the practices used in qi gong that match up surprisingly well. In this session we will look at the different aspects of qi gong, and how they impact our brain and bodies.
24th January Sound healing with James and Erin fromSoul Centric
You might not realise it, but sound has long been one of the most popular techniques for regulating the nervous system. Since ancient times humans have used music to alter their mood, and it turns out that our brains auditory system is actually hardwired to both our emotions and our ability to move. This session looks at the links between sound and the brain, and explains how soundbaths can be a great way to influence our thoughts and emotions.
21st February 2027 – Meditation with James and Noel from Samata Meditation
Meditation is clinically proven to be one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health, but too often people are put off by a lack of understanding of what is going on. In this session we explore the links made by meditation between the conscious mind and the physical body, in order to embrace its full potential.
