7pm ‘Music Medicine’ workshop

With Curious Community Rowan & Sound bath host Ciara

This event based around the 4 elements of music for healing; rhythm, melody, harmony & silence

An embodied immersive journey in sound.

Music is part of who we are at the deepest level and we don’t need any special talent or training to harness its power to enhance our lives. This is a workshop aimed at empowering you to access the four elements of music – rhythm as medicine for the body, melody as medicine for the heart, harmony as medicine for the soul, and silence as medicine for the mind.

We will be using mindful listening practices, as well as music-making practices to deepen your connection to your inner sound, all based on Christine Stevens’ research into the science and spirit of healing yourself with sound.

“May your body dance in the rhythm of life.

May your heart sing a melody of love.

May your soul harmonise with all of creation.

May your mind rest in the silence of peace.” – Christine Stevens

Ciara and Rowan are community musicians, with Ciara specialising in therapeutic sound, and Rowan specialising in drum-circle facilitation. We are both passionate about the power of music to connect human beings to each other.

Ravi Freeman: The Power of Sound & The way of the voice

(Ravi can’t be with us in person)

Natural voice practitioner and multi-instrumentalist Ravi Freeman investigates, from a holistic and scientific perspective, the huge potentials of sound, which many traditional and ancient cultures have always known. There has recently been a recognition of alternative tunings to 440 htz, the standard pitch for Western music, and a rediscovery of overtone sounds which resonate in harmony with nature, from the smallest atom to the planets and galaxies. Ravi demonstrates these with instruments and demonstrations of overtone singing. Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium, July 2022.
